A pair of small faces reduced to their essentials — a ridge of a nose, the suggestion of closed eyes, a slight curve of a mouth. The silver-toned surface is dented and uneven, catching light in bright patches and holding shadow in the recesses.

  • Material: Pewter-based alloy
  • Color: Silver
  • Length: 1 in
  • Width: 0.5 in
  • Closure: Fish hook
  • Finish: Antique silver-tone
  • Origin: Türkiye

The scale is deliberately quiet — small enough for daily wear, sculptural enough to notice. Read at arm's length they are abstract shapes; up close, the face reveals itself. They sit well against a plain neckline where the hand-worked surface has room to catch light.

Because each pair is cast individually, expect slight variation in surface texture and tone from one earring to the next.

The Story

The face is pared back to the fewest possible marks — a ridge for the nose, a closed line for the mouth, a smooth plane where features might otherwise crowd. That kind of reduction has a long lineage in sculpture, where masks and figures are simplified so the form itself carries the expression. These earrings work the same way in miniature.

The design sits between two impulses — ancient carved masks on one side, the 20th-century modernist habit of breaking the face into simple planes on the other. Neither is quoted directly; the piece borrows the logic of both, turning a familiar form into something more sculptural than literal.

Each face starts as a sculpted master pressed into a mold, then cast in molten pewter alloy. Once cooled, every piece is filed at the edges, darkened in the recesses and buffed on the raised surfaces to bring out the antique silver-tone contrast. The ear wires go on last, before pairs are matched.
