About Sculptural Jewelry

These start with a shape rather than a pattern. A face in profile, an elephant's head, a scatter of geometric plates. Cast in pewter-based alloys, they have the weight and relief of small objects and read clearly from across a room.

Wearing a form

A sculptural pendant is a single object, so give it a plain ground: a dark crew neck, a white shirt, a solid dress. It does not need a second piece. Scale matters more than color here; a face in profile on a leather cord reads from across a room, and the cord keeps it from feeling formal.

Most pieces are cast in Türkiye in pewter-based alloy that is lead- and nickel-free, then finished by hand. Prices run from $18 to $66.

Will the pewter finish wear off?

The finish is part of the metal rather than a plating, so it does not flake. It develops a slightly softer sheen with years of wear, which most people prefer. Keep it away from water and perfume to slow that down.

How heavy is a pewter pendant?

Heavier than wood or fabric, lighter than solid brass of the same size. The larger pendants have real presence around the neck, and they hang on cords or chains sized to carry the weight comfortably.
