Three parallel brass bands curve into a single rounded collar, closed at the back by small hand-looped knots in place of a clasp. Warm gold across the surface, brighter where the curve catches the light.

  • Material: Brass, hand-finished
  • Color: Warm gold
  • Size: 20.5 in circumference
  • Closure: Knotted-loop terminals, open back
  • Origin: India

The collar sits high on the neck and rests evenly along the collarbone, so the visual weight of three bands never pulls to one point. The knotted terminals become the design detail — the closure is the ornament, worn at the back rather than hidden inside a clasp.

  • Open-back styling
  • Adjustable knotted-loop terminals
  • No clasp needed

Because each band is hammered and finished by hand, small differences in texture and sheen between pieces are part of the work rather than flaws.

The Story

Brass is worked by hand across India — hammered, bent and shaped without cracking, holding its warm gold tone through every step. This collar takes that practice and builds it out into three separate hoops, each formed and finished on its own, so the surface never reads as machine-uniform.

The open-back, multi-strand collar is a familiar form in hand-worked metal jewelry. Stacking bands adds weight to the composition without adding bulk, and leaving the back open turns the closure into a decision rather than a hidden mechanism. Here the wire ends are looped and twisted into small knots; the piece closes on itself.

Every band starts as raw brass rod, cut to length, shaped around a form for its curve, then hammered to raise the textured surface. The knots at each end are drawn and twisted by hand. Finishing — checking each band against the others, smoothing and buffing — takes as long as the shaping.

Craft & Care
  • Technique: Hand-beaten brass metalsmithing

Wipe with a soft dry cloth and keep away from water and harsh chemicals to preserve the warm brass patina.

Questions

Is this necklace adjustable?

The open back with knotted-loop terminals flexes slightly as you put it on, but the fixed 20.5 in circumference means it wears as a close, structured collar rather than a long draped chain.

How do I put it on and take it off?

There is no clasp. Gently spread the open back at the knotted-loop ends and ease the collar onto or off of your neck.

Will the brass tarnish over time?

Brass naturally develops a deeper patina with wear. Wipe it with a soft dry cloth after each use and store it away from moisture to slow the change.

Can I wear this in water or with perfume and lotion?

Avoid water, perfume and harsh chemicals, all of which can dull the hand-finished surface over time.

Does it feel heavy to wear?

The three bands give it visual weight, but the open collar shape rests on the collarbone and distributes that weight evenly rather than pulling from a single point.
