Each ring is cast individually, so subtle casting marks and small differences in tone are part of the piece rather than a flaw.

The idea turns a familiar form onto its side: a face in profile — closed eye, soft brow, quiet mouth — reading across the finger rather than up it. A small trick of orientation that asks the eye to resolve the image before the object makes sense.

The plate is worked in low relief, with figures raised and incised into a flat plane rather than modeled in the round. Anatolian metalwork has used cast-and-carve techniques like this on small wearable surfaces for a long time, and the vocabulary shows here — dark hollows, bright ridges, a deliberately fragmentary silhouette.

A hand-carved master in wax or clay is used to cast the pewter zinc alloy. Once the ring cools, the recesses are darkened and the raised surfaces polished so the profile reads in contrast. The adjustable band is fitted by hand at the end.
