A wide silver band curves around the finger and folds under itself, one end raked with fine parallel lines that read as fins, the other stamped in dense overlapping crescents.

  • Width: about 1 in at widest
  • Size: S fits 6–8, L fits 8–10, adjustable
  • Finish: Oxidized, hand-polished
  • Origin: Thailand
  • Metal: Sterling silver (Hilltribe)

The band tapers as it wraps, so the widest, most patterned section sits across the top of the finger and the tail curls toward the palm. Worn alone on an index or middle finger it takes up all the room it needs; slim silver bands beside it push the scale texture forward.

  • Wrap-style adjustable band
  • Oxidized finish for contrast
  • Wide silhouette

Each ring is hand-hammered and hand-stamped, so small variations in texture, oxidation and fit between pieces are normal.

The Story

Hilltribe silver is the term for the high-purity silver worked by hand by hill tribe silversmiths in the mountains of northern Thailand, most closely associated with Karen artisans. The tradition favors hand-forging and surface stamping over casting, which is why pieces carry visible hammer facets and tool marks rather than a uniform machined finish.

The scale texture is built one row at a time with a small steel punch, each strike laying down another arc of overlapping crescents. The fin lines are cut separately with a chisel-edged tool. The pattern is a record of repeated, deliberate motion rather than a single pressed impression.

Once the surface is worked, the ring is oxidized in a chemical bath that blackens the recesses, then hand-polished on the raised surfaces so the scales read clearly against the darkened silver.

Craft & Care
  • Technique: Hilltribe silversmithing

Wipe with a soft, dry cloth after wear and store in a fabric pouch away from moisture and direct sunlight. Polish gently and infrequently — the oxidation sitting in the stamped recesses is what keeps the scale pattern visible.

Questions

How do I choose the right size?

The ring comes in two adjustable sizes: S fits fingers sized 6–8, and L fits fingers sized 8–10. Pick based on where your size falls in that range.

Can it be resized further after I receive it?

It has some built-in adjustability within its size range as a wrap-style band, but it is not designed to stretch beyond the S or L range it is sold in.

What is Hilltribe silver?

It refers to high-purity sterling silver hand-worked by hill tribe silversmiths in northern Thailand, most notably Karen artisans, using hand-hammering and stamping rather than machine casting.

Will the dark finish wear off?

The oxidation sits in the recessed scale pattern and is fairly stable with normal wear. Like any silver finish, it can soften over time with heavy polishing, so clean gently and infrequently.
