Four strands of fabric-wrapped beads in cobalt, indigo, teal and periwinkle, linked bead by bead onto brass chain. The strands graduate in scale, smallest at the top, building volume as they cascade toward the collarbone.

  • Material: Recycled Kantha fabric-wrapped wood beads, brass and copper findings
  • Color: Cobalt, indigo, teal, periwinkle
  • Length: 16 in + 3 in extender
  • Origin: India

Volume without the weight of a solid piece — the fabric softens the color into something painterly, and every bead reads a little differently in the light. It wears best against a plain neckline, where the layered blues can carry the whole outfit on their own.

  • Gradient blue palette
  • Adjustable 3 in extender
  • Lightweight construction
  • One-of-a-kind fabric patterning bead to bead

Because each bead is wrapped by hand in upcycled Kantha fabric, color, pattern placement and bead shape shift from one piece to the next.

The Story

Kantha is a running-stitch textile tradition from Bengal, where worn saris and old cloth are layered and stitched into quilts, wraps and covers. Nothing is wasted — soft, sun-faded fabric gets another life through the needle.

This necklace extends that instinct one step further. Offcuts of vintage Kantha cloth are wrapped around individual wood beads rather than stitched flat, so each bead reads as a small, irregular swatch of recycled fabric. The graduated four-strand layering is a contemporary staging on top of that inherited material.

Every bead starts as a plain wood core. An artisan hand-wraps it in a cut piece of recycled Kantha, works the cloth snugly around the curve, then links it onto brass chain in four graduated strands — slow, one bead at a time.

Questions

What are the beads made of?

Each bead has a wood core hand-wrapped in recycled Kantha fabric, so the color and pattern shift from bead to bead.

How long is the necklace and is it adjustable?

16 inches with a 3-inch extender, so you can adjust where the strands sit on the neckline.

Where is it made?

Handmade in India, where artisans wrap each bead in upcycled Kantha textile before linking the four strands by hand.

Will the color and pattern match the photo exactly?

Not exactly. Because the fabric is recycled and each bead is wrapped by hand, expect minor variation in color, pattern and bead shape from the piece shown.

How should I care for it?

Store it in a dry place and keep it away from moisture and chemicals to protect the fabric and brass finish.
