VI-E401

An open ceramic arch in glossy white, with tips dipped in warm metallic gold. A matching two-tone stud sits above, repeating the same gesture in miniature at the ear.

  • Material: Ceramic, nickel-free stainless steel
  • Color: White and gold
  • Width: 0.8 in
  • Origin: Chile
  • Posts: Nickel-free stainless steel
  • Backs: Silicone stoppers
  • Height: 1.4 in

At 1.4 inches high and 0.8 wide, the arch reads sculptural rather than dainty, but the ceramic keeps it light on the lobe. The dipped edge is done by hand, so it shifts slightly from tip to tip — the piece's quiet signature.

Each pair is hand-formed and hand-glazed, so slight variations in shape, color and the gold dip are normal from one piece to the next.

The Story

The horseshoe is one of the most familiar good-luck motifs, historically hung open-end-up over doorways. Here it is reduced to a clean, open arch — no ironwork detail, just the silhouette.

The dipped gold tips are the real signature. Rather than glazing the whole arch in one color, the maker leaves the body in glossy white and finishes only the ends in metallic glaze, echoing the look of a gold-leafed edge.

Each earring is hand-shaped from ceramic clay, bisque-fired, then glazed white with the tips dipped individually in metallic gold and fired again. Because the shaping and dipping are done by hand, the curve of the arch and the exact line where gold meets white shift slightly from one earring to the next.

Craft & Care
  • Technique: Hand-built, hand-glazed ceramic

Wipe clean with a soft, dry cloth. Keep away from water, lotion and harsh chemicals, and handle gently — the ceramic can chip if dropped.

Questions

What are these earrings made of?

The arch is handmade ceramic with a two-tone glaze. The posts are nickel-free stainless steel and the backs are silicone stoppers.

Are they safe for sensitive ears?

Yes. The posts are nickel-free stainless steel, which is a good choice for sensitive ears.

Will the two earrings in a pair look exactly alike?

They'll be very close, but because each pair is hand-shaped and hand-glazed, you may see small differences in the curve or the gold dip from one earring to the other.

How should I care for ceramic earrings?

Handle them gently, since ceramic can chip if dropped, and clean them with a soft, dry cloth rather than water or harsh chemicals.

Where are they made?

They're handmade in Chile.
