Because each strand is strung by hand, bead placement, color balance and finished length vary slightly from piece to piece.

This is seed-bead work in its simplest form: one bead at a time, strung in sequence, until dozens of rows sit side by side and a picture appears. The diamond and chevron shapes at the shoulders are basic units of beadwork geometry — easy to repeat, endlessly reworkable in color, forgiving of small hand variation.

What gives the piece its character is the graduated multi-strand construction. Nine strands of different lengths layer over each other, so the patterned tabs at the top give way to solid color below, then to loose mixed strands at the front. The layering is a construction choice as much as a decorative one — it builds volume and movement out of a single set of colors.

It is handmade in Guatemala, where beaded jewelry is a long-standing craft supported by direct-trade relationships rather than mass production.

Wipe clean with a soft dry cloth and keep away from water, perfume and lotion. Store flat or hanging so the strands stay untangled.
