Three flat discs drop in graduated scale from a small ivory circle at the ear to a broad, near-black one at the hem, the color deepening in step with the size.

  • Material: Natural horn
  • Color: Ivory, brown, charcoal
  • Length: 4.125 in
  • Width: 1.625 in
  • Closure: Fish hook
  • Origin: Kenya
  • Metal: Brass-toned alloy

The near-four-inch drop puts real movement at the collarbone, and horn's low weight keeps it comfortable at that scale. Grain runs quietly across each face — pale swirls in the ivory disc, denser striations in the darker two — so the color shift reads as material, not surface.

Details
  • Graduated three-disc cascade
  • Lightweight wear
  • Natural grain and shade variation
  • Hand-cut and hand-polished discs

Each disc is cut from natural horn, so color, grain and shading shift from one pair to the next; no two pairs are exactly alike.

The Story

Horn is worked as a byproduct of the East African livestock trade — a material that would otherwise go to waste, cut here into flat, lightweight shapes that take a high polish.

The banding, ivory through smoky charcoal, is the animal's own coloring rather than dye, which is why tones and swirl patterns never line up exactly between one disc and the next.

Each blank is shaped around the natural curve of the piece it was cut from. Discs are sawed by hand, edges sanded, faces buffed to a soft sheen, then linked with brass-toned jump rings and finished on the ear wire.

Craft & Care
  • Technique: Hand-cut and polished natural horn

Wipe clean with a dry, soft cloth. Keep away from water, lotion and direct sun to preserve the horn's finish.

Questions

Is the horn dyed to get the light and dark tones?

No. The ivory, brown and charcoal shades are the horn's own natural coloring, so the tones and swirl patterns vary from pair to pair.

How much do these earrings weigh?

Horn is naturally lightweight, so the earrings wear comfortably at this scale without pulling at the earlobe.

Can I wear these in the shower or pool?

Keep them dry. Water, lotion and prolonged sun exposure can dull the polished finish over time.

Will my pair look exactly like the photo?

Close but not identical. Each disc is hand-cut from natural horn, so grain, shading and small surface marks are unique to every pair.

What are the earrings made of besides horn?

The ear wires and jump rings that link the discs are a brass-toned metal alloy.
