Chainmaking by hand — cutting wire into rings, closing each one, then linking them into a continuous strand — is a long-running studio craft in India. This piece draws on that base skill: open circular links, built up strand by strand, rather than soldered or machine-stamped forms.

Layering three chains of different tones and ring sizes shows the chainmaker's control rather than hiding it. Copper, brass and silver-tone plating sit side by side instead of resolving into one uniform color, so the eye can follow each strand's rhythm of open circles even as they move together on the body.

The light hammering on each ring is a deliberate finishing step. It flattens and texture-marks the metal so the surface catches light unevenly along the curve of every loop, giving the chain a hand-worked shimmer that a smooth, machine-drawn chain would not have.
