Each necklace is hand-strung and hand-inlaid, so slight variations in bead shade, spacing and plaque detail are normal.

The brass plaques carry a small inlaid flower — a motif Himalayan metalworkers use to break up strands of beads with a fixed point of visual interest. A cast or stamped frame holds colored fill pressed by hand into the recessed petals, an approach applied across everyday and ceremonial jewelry in Tibetan material culture.

Multi-strand necklaces built around metal dividing plaques are a familiar Tibetan form, historically strung with turquoise, coral or other stones and worn as both adornment and portable wealth. This piece keeps the segmented plaque-and-strand structure and translates it into lightweight blue clay.

Much of this work today is made in Nepal, where Tibetan artisan communities have continued the metalworking and beadwork practice for generations, adapting the traditional forms while keeping the hand construction intact.
