A broad, gently curved silver band tapered at the shank, with a row of hand-cut triangular notches running the length of one edge. The face catches light flat; the notched edge breaks it into small, rhythmic shadows.

  • Material: Sterling silver
  • Width: 0.4 in at widest
  • Size: 9, 10, 11, 12
  • Origin: Thailand
  • Design: Curved cigar band
  • Fit: Unisex

The proportions sit somewhere between a signet and a cigar band — enough weight to read as deliberate, not so much that it dominates. Wear it alone on the index or middle finger, or stack it against slimmer silver bands and let the notched edge do the talking.

The Story

The ring is worked in Hilltribe silver — the term for silver produced by Karen and Hmong silversmiths in the mountains of northern Thailand. The alloy runs higher in purity than mass-produced sterling, which gives it a softer, warmer luster.

The triangular notches along the edge are cut freehand with a graver, one at a time, rather than stamped. It is a common device in hilltribe metalwork: small repeated shapes building rhythm across an otherwise plain surface.

Each band is formed around a mandrel, etched, then oxidized and polished so the recessed cuts read dark against the raised silver.
