A rope of dense, deep red seed beads falls almost to the waist, its slim strands broken at intervals by larger red focal beads and small brass-toned spacers that catch the light along the way.

  • Material: Glass seed beads and larger glass beads, brass-toned metal spacers
  • Color: Deep red
  • Length: 56 in
  • Origin: Nepal

Worn long it traces two clean vertical lines down the front; doubled it stacks into layered volume across the collarbone. The rhythm of small beads and larger accents keeps the eye moving along the full 56 inches.
Details
  • 56-inch continuous length
  • Multi-strand seed bead sections
  • Larger organically shaped focal beads
  • Brass-toned metal spacer accents
  • Wearable long or layered

Because each bead is strung by hand, bead placement, shape and exact strand length vary slightly from piece to piece.

The Story

The deep red palette echoes a color long favored in Himalayan jewelry, where coral was traditionally strung alongside turquoise and amber. Here that color is rendered in glass rather than gemstone — a practical substitution that keeps the visual language while working with more accessible materials.

The multi-strand construction reflects a Himalayan approach to necklace-making: several thin strands gathered and periodically drawn together with a larger bead or spacer, building length and movement rather than mass. It suits long, drapeable pieces meant to be looped or worn as a single fall.

The piece is made by Tibetan artisans in Nepal. Work begins with sorting loose seed beads and hand-stringing them into short multi-strand sections, then securing each section around a focal bead or a brass-toned spacer before moving to the next. The finished length is checked strand by strand so it hangs evenly.

Craft & Care
  • Technique: Tibetan beadwork

Store flat or hanging, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Avoid pulling on the strands so the beadwork stays tight over time.

Questions

How long is it?

56 inches — long enough to wear as a single continuous drape or looped for a layered effect.

Are the red beads coral or gemstone?

Neither. They are glass, colored to give a rich, coral-like red rather than a natural gemstone.

How is it meant to be worn?

Long as one drape, or looped once or twice around the neck for a fuller, layered look.

Will every necklace look exactly the same?

No. Small variations in bead shape and placement are normal since each piece is strung by hand.
