The construction is bead clustering: dozens of small metal beads strung tightly along several cords, then twisted together so the volume comes from repetition rather than a single heavy casting. It is a common approach in Indian costume jewelry, and it is what lets a piece this substantial stay light on the neck.

The ribbed groove on each bead is a small detail with an outsized effect. It catches light differently than a smooth surface, giving the rope texture and depth without adding weight or width.

The weathered copper tone is applied after the beads are shaped — an antiquing step that softens the metal's shine into something warmer and less uniform. The variation from bead to bead is the point.
