A chain of flattened white ovals grows toward the center — the largest bead lying horizontal at the base, smaller ones tapering up toward a bundled cotton cord. Soft matte finish, no shine.

  • Material: Wood beads on cotton cord
  • Color: Soft white
  • Length: 31–41 in, adjustable
  • Closure: Adjustable cord
  • Origin: Philippines
  • Metal: Brass-tone spacer beads at closure

Wide across the collarbone but almost weightless, since the beads are wood rather than stone. The adjustable cord shifts it between a mid-chest length and a longer drop, so it settles differently over a crew neck than it does over a scoop.

Details
  • Graduated bead sizing
  • Elongated oval bead shape
  • Adjustable cord closure
  • Lightweight wear at scale

Each bead is cut and finished individually from natural wood, so slight variation in grain, shape and tone from one piece to the next is expected.

The Story

The necklace comes out of the Philippines' wood, shell and horn accessory trade, where workshops turn sustainably managed woods into finished jewelry components. Elongated, graduated beadwork is a signature of that design language — simple geometric shapes doing the work that surface ornament usually does.

The soft white is a bleach or light whitewash treatment used across Philippine wood workshops. It reads as sculptural and neutral from a distance while the grain still shows up close.

Each bead is rough-cut from a wood blank, shaped into the elongated oval on a lathe or by hand, sanded flush and drilled through its length. A stringer sequences the beads by scale before the cord closure is tied off.

Craft & Care
  • Technique: Handcarved wood beadwork

Wipe the beads with a soft, dry cloth. Keep away from water, perfume and direct sun so the soft white finish holds up.

Questions

How long is it?

The cord adjusts from about 31 to 41 in, so you can settle it wherever it sits best over the neckline you're wearing.

Is it heavy to wear?

No. The beads are wood, so it wears much lighter than a comparable piece cut from stone or metal.

How do I care for it?

Wipe the beads with a soft, dry cloth. Keep it away from water, perfume and direct sun so the soft white finish holds up.

Where is it made?

Handmade in the Philippines.
