The Story

The piece belongs to an Indian practice of covering plain wooden beads in fabric and thread — a way of turning simple material into something with color, softness and hand. It is still worked today in small workshops and at home.

The beige thread knotted between each bead does two things at once. It locks the fabric wrap in place, and it sets a visible rhythm against the deep red — a small, deliberate contrast repeated the length of the strand.
