A thin gold-tone collar carries a woven wire band along its front, densely fringed with jewel-tone beads and small brass discs that shift and catch the light with movement.

  • Material: Recycled wood, textile scraps, gemstones, nickel-free alloy
  • Stones: Tiger's eye, carnelian, onyx
  • Color: Multicolor with gold-tone
  • Closure: Memory-wire collar, no clasp
  • Origin: India
  • Circumference: 16 in
  • Bead size: 6–8 mm

From a distance the fringe reads as one continuous band of color; up close it resolves into wrapped textile, rounds of tiger's eye, carnelian and onyx, and small brass discs. The collar holds its curved shape without a clasp and sits close against a plain neckline.

Details
  • Recycled-textile-wrapped wood beads
  • Scattered tiger's eye, carnelian and onyx gemstone accents
  • Handwoven chainmail-style front band
  • Flexible memory-wire collar for a no-clasp fit
  • Small brass sequin details among the fringe

Every collar is hand-wrapped, so bead color, textile pattern and fringe placement vary from one piece to the next.

The Story

The fringe is built from wood beads individually wrapped in scraps of recycled fabric — leftover cloth from garment and textile production, put to use rather than discarded. No two color clusters repeat exactly, since the wrapping depends on whichever remnant was on hand.

Threaded in among the wrapped beads are rounds of tiger's eye, carnelian and onyx. India is one of the major centers for cutting and polishing semi-precious stone, and these beads carry the natural color and banding of each material rather than any single pattern.

The front band itself is built from small linked wire loops, a chainmail-style technique that gives the collar structure and shine while keeping it lightweight. Paired with memory wire that holds its curved shape, the piece needs no clasp.

Craft & Care
  • Technique: Hand-wrapped textile beadwork

Wipe the beads and metal with a soft, dry cloth after wearing. Store flat or hanging so the fringe doesn't tangle, and keep away from water, perfume and lotion.

Questions

What is it made of?

Wood beads hand-wrapped in recycled textile scraps, with tiger's eye, carnelian and onyx gemstone beads, all set on a nickel-free alloy collar.

Does it have a clasp?

No. The collar is flexible memory wire that holds its curved shape, so it slips on and off without a clasp.

Will mine look exactly like the photo?

Not exactly. Because the beads are individually wrapped by hand in recycled fabric, the color mix and fringe placement vary from piece to piece.

How do I care for it?

Wipe with a soft, dry cloth after wearing and store flat or hanging so the fringe doesn't tangle. Keep it away from water, perfume and lotion.

Who makes it?

It is handmade by women artisans in India as part of a fair trade production process.
