Three slim bands of cobalt cord, densely packed with tiny gold-tone beads that catch the light in a steady, continuous line. A loose blue thread tassel spills from the knot, softening the graphic precision of the beadwork.

  • Material: Waxed cord, gold-tone beads
  • Color: Cobalt blue or gray, with gold-tone beads
  • Closure: Adjustable pull-cord
  • Sold as: Set of three
  • Origin: Guatemala

The three bands read as one fuller piece when stacked, or split apart for a lighter presence on the wrist. The tassel adds movement where the beadwork is precise, and the pull-cord tie means each band slides to fit and knots in place.

  • Set of three bracelets
  • Adjustable pull-cord closures
  • Tassel accent
  • Hand-woven beaded band

Because each bracelet is hand-woven, bead spacing, tassel fullness and cord length vary slightly from piece to piece.

The Story

The bracelets come out of a Guatemalan tradition of hand-knotting waxed thread around small beads to build dense, patterned bands, rather than stringing beads on a single strand. The result is a textile-like surface of tightly packed rows that holds its shape and color far longer than simple stringing.

Each band is built row by row: an artisan wraps and knots waxed cord tightly around a line of beads, repeating the motion down the length of the bracelet until the beadwork forms a solid, woven strip. The pull cords and tassel are finished by hand at the ends.

Selling bracelets in stacked sets of three is a common approach among Guatemalan artisan cooperatives — multiple slim bands worn together read as one fuller piece, giving a layered look from a single purchase.

Craft & Care
  • Technique: Hand-knotted beadwork on waxed cord

Keep dry and away from lotion or perfume. Wipe the cord gently with a soft cloth if needed.

Questions

Is this one bracelet or a set?

It is a set of three beaded bracelets, meant to be worn stacked together or separately.

How do I adjust the size?

Each bracelet closes with a pull-cord tie, so you can slide it to fit your wrist and knot it in place.

What are the beads made of?

Small gold-tone beads woven onto waxed cord. The source does not specify a precious metal, so treat them as gold-tone rather than solid gold.

Will the color fade or the tassel fray over time?

The cord and tassel are dyed thread, so with regular wear you may see gentle color softening and light fraying at the tassel. That is normal for hand-woven cord pieces.

Are these fair trade?

Yes, they are handcrafted in Guatemala through fair trade production.
