Brass Collar Necklace with Concentric Ring Pendants

Each collar is hand-forged and hammered individually, so slight differences in curve, ring alignment and surface marking are normal from piece to piece.

The collar, or torque, is one of the oldest necklace shapes there is — a rigid open band that slips on from behind and holds its curve without a clasp. This piece pares that structure to essentials: a single curved bar and two hanging rings, so the design reads as line and negative space rather than ornament layered on top.

The pendant rings do the visual work. One is forged flat with a hammer, so its surface catches light along a defined plane; the other is left as a rounded wire arc, softer and more open. Hanging one inside the other, slightly off-center, gives the piece a hand-set asymmetry rather than mechanical precision.

The collar begins as brass wire and flat stock, worked at a hammer and stake rather than cast in a mold. The flat ring is hammered by hand until its band is even; the second is bent from wire into a closed arc. Raw wire is coiled into small loops to link the rings to the collar — a simple mechanical join that leaves the tool marks visible.
