The composition splits cleanly down the center — warm hammered brass on one side, matte black on the other. A continuous row of small raised beads traces both edges, framing the contrast as a single graphic rectangle around the wrist.

  • Material: Brass with painted black band
  • Width: 1.4 in
  • Closure: Open cuff, adjustable
  • Origin: India
  • Circumference: 6.5 in

The open back flexes gently to fit a range of wrists. Wide enough at 1.4 inches to hold the arm as one bold gesture, and the hammered face catches light differently from every angle while the matte black side stays quiet beside it.

Details
  • Hand-hammered brass face
  • Matte black painted panel
  • Beaded dot trim along both edges
  • Open adjustable cuff form

Every dimple is hand-struck and every cuff is shaped individually, so small variations in texture and finish are part of the piece.

The Story

The composition is two halves resolved by a single edge. Hammered brass fills one side of the cuff, catching light in a scatter of shallow dimples; a matte black panel sits opposite, absorbing it. A fine row of raised beads runs around both rims, holding the split together.

The hammered texture is planished — the metal struck repeatedly with a rounded hammer face — which is why the surface reads as irregular rather than patterned. The black side is masked and hand-painted after the brass is worked, so the contrast lands as a graphic decision layered onto a textural one.

The cuff is cut from brass sheet, shaped, hammered, painted and finished by hand in India, where hammer-and-anvil work is still done by skill rather than by machine.

Craft & Care
  • Technique: Hand-hammered brasswork

Wipe with a soft, dry cloth and keep away from water to protect the painted band and the brass finish.

Questions

How does the cuff go on?

It is an open-back cuff, so it flexes gently at the gap and closes around the wrist rather than sliding over the hand.

Will it fit a smaller or larger wrist?

Yes. The open design flexes slightly wider or narrower to adjust within a comfortable range.

Is the brass solid or plated?

The upper band is solid hammered brass. The lower band is brass finished with a painted black coating.

Will the black band chip or wear off?

The band is painted, so heavy contact or moisture can wear it. Wiping dry after wear and keeping it away from water helps the finish last.

Why does the hammered texture look uneven?

Each dimple is struck by hand, so the texture varies across the surface and from one cuff to the next.
