A wide cuff split into two flat planes of color: dimpled brass gold across the top, a saturated red band along one edge, with a raised beaded dot trim scalloping the perimeter.

  • Material: Brass with painted finish
  • Width: 1.4 in
  • Closure: Open back, adjustable
  • Origin: India
  • Circumference: 6.5 in

The hammered surface catches light unevenly, so the gold half never reads flat next to the painted stripe. Adjustable and open at the back, it sits high on the wrist with real presence — bold enough to wear alone, graphic enough to hold its own against a stack.

Details
  • Hand-hammered dimpled texture
  • Beaded edge trim
  • Painted red band
  • Antique gold-tone finish
  • Adjustable open back

Each cuff is shaped and hammered by hand, so hammer marks, bead spacing and the paint line vary slightly piece to piece.

The Story

The cuff comes out of an Indian tradition of cold-worked brass, where sheet metal is shaped and textured by hand rather than cast. The dimpled surface is a direct record of the hammer strikes — no two land quite the same, which is why hand-forged brass reads warmer than a machine-stamped equivalent.

The beaded dot trim running the full perimeter is a standard finishing move in Indian metalwork, used to give a raw-cut edge a deliberate boundary. Set against the red-and-gold color block, it pushes the cuff toward folk-art graphic rather than delicate ornament.

A flat strip of brass sheet is hammered against a stake to raise the texture, then curved into shape. The beaded trim is set along both edges, and the red band is hand-painted and left to cure before the piece is finished.

Craft & Care
  • Technique: Hand-hammered brass metalwork

Wipe gently with a soft dry cloth. Keep away from water, lotion and harsh cleaners to protect the painted band.

Questions

Will the cuff fit my wrist?

The open back is designed to adjust, so it can be gently opened or closed to fit most wrist sizes.

Is the red band painted or dyed into the metal?

It is a painted finish applied by hand over the brass. Keep it dry to preserve the color.

Will the brass tarnish over time?

Brass develops a soft patina with wear. A quick wipe with a dry cloth after wearing keeps the antique gold tone bright.

Can I wear this in water or with lotion?

Best removed before washing, swimming or applying lotion — moisture and chemicals dull the brass and affect the painted band.
