Indigo Ceramic Bead Necklace with Hammered Silver-Tone Discs

Each ceramic bead is hand-painted and each metal accent hand-hammered, so pattern, color saturation and shape shift slightly from one necklace to the next.

Each bead in this strand starts as clay — shaped by hand, fired, then painted bead by bead with fine brushes. The turquoise striping on the cubes and rondelles is drawn freehand, so the lines wobble slightly from one bead to the next.

The silver-tone discs and freeform nugget links are hammered separately, worked until the surface catches light unevenly. Matte painted ceramic and reflective hand-worked metal, strung into one balanced sequence.

Sequencing is the quiet part of the work: shapes, sizes and colors placed so the strand reads as rhythm rather than randomness, judged at the worktable as each piece goes on.
