A slender open cuff banded with a continuous spiral of hand-cut lines, so the metal reads as a fine rope wound around the wrist. The oxidized grooves darken to nearly black against the polished raised silver, giving the twist real depth.

  • Material: Hilltribe sterling silver, stamped 925
  • Color: Silver with oxidized detail
  • Width: 4 mm
  • Origin: Thailand
  • Circumference: 6.75 in, adjustable
  • Design: Open cuff

Slim enough to sit quietly on a bare wrist and graphic enough to hold its own, with a fit you shape by hand. Wear it alone for the line of the twist, or stacked with thinner bands so the rope motif carries across a run of metal.

Details
  • Hand-etched rope-twist motif
  • Adjustable open cuff
  • Oxidized antique finish
  • Slender 4 mm band
  • Hand-flattened end tips

Because the rope pattern is etched and finished by hand, slight variations in line depth, spacing and oxidation are normal and are part of the piece's handmade character.

The Story

The cuff comes from the hilltribe silversmithing tradition of northern Thailand, where families of artisans shape, twist and etch silver wire by hand rather than casting it in a factory. The rope-twist is a recurring device in this work: fine parallel lines are cut into a solid band so a single strip of metal reads as a spiraling cord.

A silversmith starts with a length of silver wire, hammering and rounding it into a band before cutting the parallel lines freehand with a graver. The band is then darkened in an oxidizing solution so the recessed lines hold black while the raised surface is polished back to bright silver — that contrast is what gives the twist its depth.

The open ends are hammered flat and smoothed so the cuff can be adjusted by hand. It is made to be gently reshaped by the wearer rather than sized to one wrist, which is how the same bracelet fits and re-fits over years of wear.

Craft & Care
  • Technique: Hilltribe silver, hand-etched and oxidized

Store in a dry pouch away from air and moisture. Polish occasionally with a soft silver cloth on the raised surfaces to keep the shine without stripping the darkened detail from the etched grooves.

Questions

Is this bracelet adjustable?

Yes. It is an open cuff with a 6.75 in circumference that can be gently squeezed narrower or eased wider by hand to fit most wrists.

Will it fit both smaller and larger wrists?

Because the cuff opens and adjusts, it accommodates a range of wrist sizes. Adjust slowly and evenly from both ends rather than bending it sharply in one spot.

How do I keep the oxidized finish from wearing away?

Avoid aggressive polishing that digs into the etched grooves. A light wipe with a soft silver cloth over the raised surfaces cleans the piece without stripping the darkened detail from the rope pattern.

Will my bracelet look exactly like the photo?

Each cuff is hand-etched and oxidized individually, so expect small, natural variations in the twist pattern and finish rather than a machine-identical match.

Is this bracelet made for a specific gender?

No. The slender 4 mm band and adjustable fit suit any wrist.
