Jasper and serpentine are natural stones, so expect gentle variation in color, texture and inclusions from one piece to the next.

The design pairs a drafted brass line with stone that keeps its rough edges. The open oval reads almost like a piece of geometry, while the jasper and serpentine hold their uneven surfaces — the tension between the two is the point, not an accident of assembly.

The bead strand above the pendant is left tumbled rather than polished smooth, so the natural color and grain of each stone stays visible. Machined metal against unrefined stone is a hallmark of contemporary sculptural jewelry: the brass provides the structure, the stone provides the variation.

The brass elements — the tapered neck wires, the connecting bar, the open oval frame — are shaped and finished individually, then assembled by hand. The bead strand is strung one rough-cut stone at a time, which is why no two lengths look quite the same.
