Each bead is hand-wrapped from upcycled textile scraps, so color, pattern and size vary from piece to piece.

The Story

The fabric wrapping each bead started as scrap from Kantha textiles, a running-stitch tradition from Bengal, where worn cotton saris were layered and stitched together into new cloth rather than discarded.

Here that logic carries over sideways: instead of stitching scraps into a flat quilt, small squares of cloth are wrapped tightly around a wood bead core, seam hidden, so the original print reads cleanly around the curve. Every bead ends up carrying a different piece of the source cloth.

Clustered in the dozens along a single chain, the beads read as a collage — reds beside teals beside florals and stripes, all pulled from cloth with a prior life.
