The Story

The fringe is built the way a lot of Guatemalan seed-bead work is built: row by row, strand by strand, with the color counted into place rather than printed or dyed afterward. That row-by-row construction is what lets the fade sit so precisely, moving from deep blue at the top to pale sand at the tips.

Read as a composition, the palette is a landscape — indigo dusk, a copper horizon line arching across the middle, then the pale gold of early light at the ends. The brass half-moon sits over the top as the fixed anchor point everything else hangs from.

The cap is cut and shaped from sheet brass and given a brushed finish, then fitted with the small holes each fringe strand ties through. Pairing a stiff metal element with a loose bead fringe is a common structural choice in this kind of earring: a defined silhouette at the top, freedom of movement below.
