A slim brass triangle, left open through its center, cradles a faceted sphere at its base. Above it, a smooth ivory column sits like a counterweight — a composition that reads column, frame, sphere.

  • Material: 18k gold-plated brass, peach moonstone, magnesite
  • Stones: Peach moonstone, magnesite
  • Color: Ivory, peach, brass
  • Drop: 2.625 in, plus hook
  • Closure: Closed curved ear hook
  • Origin: USA

They hang just over two and a half inches long, but almost nothing about them is solid — the open triangle keeps them light, and the wire moves as you turn. Structural lines carrying rounded natural forms; angular metal against organic stone.

Details
  • Curved loss-proof ear hooks
  • Open triangular wirework
  • Faceted moonstone sphere
  • Polished magnesite cylinder

Moonstone and magnesite are natural stones, so tone, pattern and clarity vary slightly from piece to piece.

The Story

The design leans on line rather than ornament. A slim brass triangle, left open at its center, does the work that a solid piece of metal would normally do, while weight and color come from the stones it holds. The magnesite cylinder and the moonstone sphere are cut into elemental shapes — a column and a ball — set against the angularity of the wire frame.

Nothing is stamped or cast as a single unit. Each element is made separately and then joined, which is what gives the earring its sense of open space and movement. The hook is worth a second look too: curved into a closed, loss-proof shape rather than a plain fishhook, a piece of practical thinking layered onto the otherwise decorative form.

They start as flat sheet and wire, cut and shaped by hand into the triangle and the ear hook. The magnesite is cut into a smooth cylinder, the moonstone faceted into a sphere, and each stone is hand-set into the brass framework before the piece is gold-plated. Assembled in a US studio, one fit-up at a time.

Craft & Care
  • Technique: Hand-formed wirework, hand-set stones

Wipe with a soft, dry cloth and store in a pouch. Keep away from water, perfume and abrasive contact to protect the plating and the stone surfaces.

Questions

How long do the earrings hang?

About 2.625 inches from the base of the ear hook down to the moonstone sphere.

What makes the ear hooks loss-proof?

The gold-plated brass wire is curved into a closed loop rather than a plain open hook, so it sits more securely in the ear and is less likely to slip out.

How do I care for these earrings?

Keep them away from water, perfume and abrasion, and store them in a soft pouch when you are not wearing them.

Are these handmade?

Yes. They are handcrafted in a US studio, with each magnesite and moonstone piece individually set into hand-formed brass wirework.
