Each bead is individually hand-wrapped, so color placement, texture and knot spacing shift slightly from strand to strand.

The design comes from a long-standing Indian handicraft: covering plain wooden beads in strips of fabric to turn simple materials into something with color and texture. Small home and cooperative workshops produce these strands, and each carries its own sequence of red and pink tones.

Each bead starts as a shaped wooden core. An artisan wraps it tightly in a fabric strip, secures the ends, then strings the beads one by one, with a hand-tied knot between each to keep them spaced and let the strand fall softly. A 100-inch rope means repeating that wrap-and-knot sequence well over a hundred times.

The clasp-free format is built around how the necklace is worn: one long strand that loops two, three or more times, so the same piece reads as a close layered column or a single long drape.
