Each piece is handmade, so the fabric prints and gemstone mix vary from one necklace to the next.

The wrapped beads take their color story from kantha — a running-stitch textile tradition from West Bengal that layers old cotton saris into new cloth. Here, strips of that reclaimed fabric are wound tightly around small wood cores, so no two beads share quite the same print. Strung across three strands, the effect reads as deliberate variety rather than mismatch.

The brass spirals draw on a separate craft: hand-formed wirework, where a single length of metal is bent and coiled into scrollwork with pliers rather than cast. Pairing reclaimed cloth with hand-worked metal is a practical Indian jewelry-making instinct — use what is on hand, work it skillfully.

Fabric strips are wrapped and sealed around each wood core, then hand-strung alongside cut and polished gemstone beads onto brass wire. Separately, an artisan coils lengths of wire into the spiral shapes and sets them between the strands one at a time, which is why the bead order and print mix are never quite the same twice.
