The Story

Herkimer quartz grows pointed at both ends, its facets formed in the rock rather than cut by a lapidary. What looks like precision faceting is the crystal's own geometry, kept intact.

Because each stone comes out of the ground with its own outline, the mounts cannot be stamped. A goldsmith forms the bezel around each individual crystal, bending and burnishing brass to grip the natural perimeter, then plates the finished piece in 18k micron gold.

This kind of hand bezel work over gold-plated brass is a long-standing category in Indian workshops — the setting technique carrying most of the value, and the base metal kept quiet under the plating.
