The discs are cut from natural wood and the closure from natural horn, so grain, tone, and sheen vary slightly from piece to piece.

The disc is one of the most fundamental shapes in Philippine wood-and-horn jewelry — a cross-section of a branch or dowel, sliced thin, sanded smooth, and drilled through the center. Here the shape is multiplied: hundreds of identical discs strung across many strands until the piece reads as a single sculptural mass.

The pattern comes from the material itself, not from carving or imagery. Repetition and volume do the work. The horn tips at the shoulders gather the loose strands into a controlled shape before they reach the clasp — practical, but polished as a design element in their own right.

Each disc is cut by hand or on a small lathe, sanded to a matte finish, and drilled. A single necklace can require several hundred discs, sorted by size and tone before an artisan strings and twists the strands so they fall in an even, layered mass.
