Dozens of small wood discs, densely twisted into a bib, shift from bright scarlet at the shoulders to deep wine at the center front. A curved horn hook anchors the top.

  • Material: Wood, horn
  • Color: Red, burgundy
  • Length: 21 in
  • Closure: Horn hook and eye
  • Origin: Philippines

Volume without weight — the discs pack in tightly but read light against the neckline. It sits high and full, wide enough to carry a plain top or a solid dress on its own, with the gradient landing exactly where the eye follows.

Details
  • Multi-strand twisted construction
  • Two-tone red-to-burgundy gradient
  • Individually cut and polished wood discs
  • Curved horn hook closure
  • Sculptural silhouette

The discs are cut from natural wood and hand-dyed, so grain and color depth shift slightly from strand to strand and piece to piece.

The Story

The piece comes out of Filipino wood and horn work — a tradition that turns locally available materials, offcuts and small-diameter wood among them, into uniform discs and beads through cutting, sanding and dyeing.

The twisted multi-strand format is a hallmark of that tradition. Dozens of individually strung strands are gathered and twisted together, building volume out of small, repeated units. Discs are hand-dyed in graded batches, from bright red through to deep burgundy, so a strung strand reads as a gradient rather than a mix.

The horn hook-and-eye is shaped and polished separately, then fitted at each end — a finish that keeps the piece inside the same material vocabulary rather than switching to metal hardware.

Craft & Care
  • Technique: Filipino wood and horn beadwork

Wipe clean with a soft, dry cloth. Keep away from water and prolonged sun, and store flat in a dry place to preserve the wood.
