The band starts as a strip of brass, cut and shaped into an open hoop, then plated in gold. A maker works the surface with a small hammer or punch to raise the pattern of light dents that catches across the metal — a hand finish rather than a machine polish, which is why no two hoops carry exactly the same texture.

Turquoise reads clearly against warm gold; the cool blue-green sits against the metal rather than blending into it. Here the beads are faceted, small, and set one by one along the edge of the band, each secured with a tiny wire wrap before the post and butterfly back are attached.
