Mother of pearl and freshwater pearls are natural materials. Small differences in shape, color, and iridescence mean no two pairs are identical.

Mother of pearl is the iridescent inner layer of shell; freshwater pearls form inside cultivated mollusks. Neither is dyed here, so the blush pinks, smoky grays, and creamy whites in each disc and pearl are simply what that shell or pearl produced.

The silhouette is a tiered drop — a squared disc at the top, a round disc below, and a cluster of freshwater pearls at the bottom. It is a construction, not a symbol; the interest sits in how the surfaces and colors play against each other as the earring moves.

Because each pair is made to order, the exact placement of pink versus gray shifts from one pair to the next. Discs and pearls are hand-wired onto jump rings, the fringe is built by wrapping individual pearls onto head pins, and the tiers are linked together before the hook is attached.
