Each piece is handmade, so bead texture, wood grain and stone hue shift slightly from one necklace to the next.

The technique is straightforward: strips of leftover cotton and silk — often offcuts from sari and garment production — are wound tightly around a core and sealed, forming a bead rather than being discarded. Paired with wood and stone, textile beads carry saturated color at a fraction of the weight of solid materials.

Multi-strand construction is practical design as much as decorative. It lets small, irregular beads work together to build visual presence without any single component driving the piece. The wood is turned and sanded, then split between raw matte and lacquered mahogany finishes so the strands read as layered rather than uniform.

Sodalite is not native to India. The deep blue stone is sourced through the broader gem trade and set into locally made pieces here — a working example of craft as an evolving, connected practice rather than a fixed one.

Wipe with a soft dry cloth after wear. Store flat or hanging, away from moisture and direct sun, to protect the wood and textile beads.
