Four-Strand Graduated Sari-Textile Bead Necklace

Each bead is individually covered in a different piece of recycled sari cloth, so the exact mix of colors and prints on your necklace will vary from the piece pictured.

Kantha is a textile practice from Bengal — the region spanning eastern India and Bangladesh — where worn cotton saris and dhotis are layered and joined with close running stitches rather than discarded. Cloth too worn to wear becomes quilts, wraps and covers.

This necklace applies the same salvage logic at bead scale. Artisans hand-wrap each bead in a scrap of recycled sari, so the print, stripe or hand-painted swirl on the surface comes directly from a garment's earlier life. Beads are sorted by size, threaded onto brass chain in four graduated strands, and finished with a brass toggle.

Because the source cloth varies piece to piece, no two beads carry the same print placement, and no two necklaces are identical.
