Each bead is individually wrapped and clustered by hand, so print placement, bead shape and cluster density vary slightly from one necklace to the next. A bead that loosens in transit can be slid back through its chain link.

The Story

The beads here start as printed fabric, not stone or glass. Each scrap is wrapped tightly around a bead core and stitched into place, so the print sits smoothly and the bead keeps its shape.

Rather than a single strand, the composition builds through dozens of small beaded elements wired cluster by cluster onto a linked chain. Mixing solid black and gray with a lighter dove-blue print inside one cluster is how the movement enters — no gemstone, no enamel, just contrast in the textile itself.

The work is done by hand from start to finish by women artisans in India. That is why the spacing, fullness and print placement shift slightly from one piece to the next.
