Graduated bead necklaces — beads increasing in size toward the center front — are a longstanding form in Indian metal jewelry. They add visual weight at the neckline without needing a single large pendant, letting the composition itself do the work.

The dark gunmetal finish comes from an oxidizing process applied to base metal, common across Indian workshops as a darker, moodier alternative to bright polished silver. The fine black speckling on each bead is part of that same hand-finishing rather than a flaw.

Beads are cast in base metal, finished by hand, then sorted by size and strung in graduated order along a black cotton cord — largest at the front. The stringing is done by eye, without a template, so no two necklaces sit exactly the same.
