A ribbon of bronze folds open across the wrist, twisting in on itself before releasing into two open ends. Raised edges gleam warm gold; the recesses hold a deep, near-black patina.

Each cuff is cast and finished by hand, so surface texture, patina depth and the exact curve of the twist vary slightly from piece to piece.

The Story

The cuff is built on a single gesture: a band of bronze that twists and opens like a loosely tied ribbon rather than closing into a fixed circle. That open form is practical as much as sculptural — one shape flexes to fit a range of wrists.

The two-tone finish is what makes the twist read. The whole surface is darkened with a chemical patina, then the raised ridges are hand-burnished back to bare bronze, so the sculptural line stays legible against the darker recesses.

It comes out of Türkiye's metalworking trade, where independent smiths still cast and finish bronze jewelry by hand. The twisted form starts as a wax or clay model, cast using lost-wax or sand-casting methods, then filed, patinated and selectively polished at the workbench.

Will this cuff fit my wrist?

The open back flexes gently to fit most wrist sizes, so no specific size selection is needed.

How do I adjust the fit?

Gently widen or narrow the opening at the back with your hands. Make small adjustments — bronze holds its shape once bent.

Why does the surface look darkened in some areas and polished in others?

The finish is deliberate. The recesses carry a chemical patina; the raised ridges are hand-polished back to bare bronze, so the twist reads with depth and contrast.

Is bronze safe for sensitive skin?

Bronze can react with skin oils and sweat over time and may not suit those with metal sensitivities. Remove the cuff before swimming or showering.

It’s too heavy and my

It’s too heavy and my wrist is small so it doesn’t adjust enough. I plan to return it.

Heavy Bohemian round bangle

Sadly, this "cuff" bracelet was round, rather than the usual oval-shaped cuff bracelet (that stays in place). It was quite heavy (solid bronze) and flipped around my wrist when I modeled it. (I never wear round bangles, for this reason. This was worse, since it had an opening - the opening moved itself the the top of my wrist and the "showy" side of the bracelet hung down, out of sight.)

It was quite hard to put on, as the opening was just the size of my wrist. I had to scrape into it. I suspect the wearer might have to bend it open to put it on, then bend it closed to shape it to the wrist. This would eventually degrade the bronze.

The quality and rough workmanship was just what I wanted - I really liked the bracelet - but I returned it because of its shape. If this becomes available in an oval shape I would reorder.

I think this bracelet might be appropriate for someone with large wrists, where it might be snug enough to stay upright and in place.
